Perhaps no group of steam locomotives has done more to cement the legacy of Lima and their Super Power design than the "common design" Berkshires of the 1940s. Rostered by multiple railroads under the VanSweringen brothers' control and copied by even more, these modern 2-8-4s combined power, speed and efficiency with a well-balanced style.
